My baby will have these. I love them.

My Achy Breaky Heart

Pregnancy heartburn. Apparently its another thing I can blame on progesterone. In researching the list of things that can cause pregnancy heartburn I found: carbonated drinks, alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, acidic foods like citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes, mustard, and vinegar, processed meats, mint products, and spicy, highly seasoned, fried, or fatty foods. Most of those are fine – I have abstained from alcohol and cut WAY back on caffeine and carbonated drinks anyway, but the thought of abstaining from some of these items just makes me sad…like chocolate….or juice…and spicy food. They have been my go-to for awhile now. Whenever I crave something sweet,  you better believe its chocolate (if you know me well, you might find this strange since I have never been a chocolate eater). Also, I live off of orange juice and cranberry juice. Even if I could give up juice and chocolate, there is nothing I can do about the spicy food. It is literally ALL. I. WANT. I mean really, why is it that all of the best things will make me feel the worst! I guess for the next couple months its gonna be Tums Chasers with every meal ;).

PS – I hope you liked the Billy Ray Cyrus reference. My heart is achy from the heartburn, its breaky from having to give up my best foods!

Auntie Angie…

I intended to do a post showing how much my sister (mother of 3) loves this kid. Moreover how excited she is to finally be an aunt (literally-she has been begging me to get preg since she had her first, 5 years ago). I intended to illustrate the love and excitement by showing this photo of all the things she has bought for baby jackson:

Now, however, it seems to do no justice. I went to her house for my niece’s birthday last week and came home with this:

Yes people, in addition to the hundreds of articles of clothing on the floor in piles, there are also two full trashbags full of clothes as well…I have a lot of laundry to do! These all belonged to my nephew Carson in his younger years.  I am super grateful, because he has clothing in every size from newborn to 24 months!

Thanks Ang!

I ordered this for the nursery!!! I got it in dark brown (tree/leaves) and dark blue (birds/nest). I am pretty stoked!

My Favorite FOUR year old!

Oh Bailey. I cannot believe you are FOUR today. It seems like such a big jump from being three. Can you believe that hospital picture?! I have NEVER seen a smiling happy newborn photo in my life! She has kept me laughing ever since that day.  Here are a few examples of baileygirl’s humor:

While looking at wedding photos, she spots Zac’s mom and says “Who’s that girl? She’s Stylish!”

– Me: Bailey, who is your best friend? Bailey: Ummm, you and faith (she answers this way each and every time. I. love. it.)

Talking to my sister: “Mommy, can I play with your strawberry?” Ang: “Honey, its called a blackberry” Bailey: “I know mom, but I like strawberries better!”

Here are a few fun photos from her birthday party tonight:

Look who found her thumb? Just melts my heart.

We’ve been waiting….

Today is a big day for me and little Jackson. I am 28 weeks pregnant, and thus have officially entered the third trimester! This means that there are only 12 weeks left, give or take. It seems so strange, when I was 12 weeks pregnant, I remember thinking how long 28 weeks would be, but now that it is here, I can unequivocally state that time has really flown by.  What is even more difficult to believe is that in 12 weeks Jackson should be here, a reality. I will finally be able to see what he looks like, smell his sweet baby smell, and share him with the world (however, I am obliged to note that I do enjoy having him all to myself, only I am with him all day right now. only I feel his jabs and flutters. only i can provide for him right now).

Pregnancy is a funny, amazing, wonderful thing. The only way I can describe it is a roadmap filled with milestones, from the positive pregnancy test, to the first ultrasound, to the first time you hear the heartbeat, to the end of the first trimester is a journey. Then you start to have the baby bump, feel movement, then someone else gets to feel movement, and eventually the 20 weekultrasound, which, by the way, is extremely cool even if you don’t find out the gender, because you get to see awesome things, like little baby feet:

Or a ridiculously cute profile shot:

And then you find yourself making the first big baby purchase, having your glucose test, and entering the last chapters of your journey. It is really unbelievable how fast and how slow things move.  It seemed to take FOREVER to find out the gender of the baby, but also seems like just yesterday that I found out I was pregnant in the first place.  It still seems like forever until he is actually here, but I have a feeling, looking back it is going to seem like he came so fast.

Moving right along…

It’s been sewn, backed, and batted. Now it just has to be quilted to finish it off. It’s folded in quarters here so you can imagine it as four times this size 🙂

Operation make Jackson a quilt has begun….let’s hope this goes well!

All the dogs know their mon’s having “puppies” as Zac put it. They all want to be close to me all the time, and if it’s marley, she is on top of me all the time.

PS-excuse the way I look in this photo please.
